Quick answer
The Persist Women's 30L and Men's 30L share the same rugged CERO fabric and CCubed cushioning, but the women's version is shaped for a shorter torso and narrower shoulders. Choose the women's model if you have a typically female frame; otherwise, the men's pack offers a roomier fit.
Shared core design
Both the Persist Women's 30L and Men's 30L are built with NEMO's exclusive CERO fabric and CCubed cushioning. That means you get a clean, rugged exterior that resists trail wear and a back panel designed for comfortable carry even when you're hauling a full mountain toolkit. The 30L capacity and U-shaped zippered opening are identical, so gear access and total volume are the same.
Where fit differs
The key difference is in the torso length and shoulder strap contour. The women's version is engineered for a shorter torso and narrower shoulder profile, which helps the pack sit closer to the body and reduces strap gap. The men's version has a longer torso and wider strap spacing to accommodate broader shoulders and a longer back. If you're between sizes, try both to see which back panel and strap geometry feels more secure.
Trade-off: weight vs. load capacity
Because the women's pack uses slightly less material in the frame and straps, it tends to be a few ounces lighter. However, the men's pack can sometimes distribute heavy loads more evenly across a broader back. For most day-use loads (up to about 20 lb), either pack carries well. If you regularly push toward the upper end of the pack's capacity, the men's wider frame may feel more stable.
How to decide between the Persist Women's 30L and Men's 30L
- Torso length: Measure from the C7 vertebra (bony bump at the base of your neck) to the iliac crest (top of your hip bones). Women's packs typically fit torsos 15–18 inches; men's fit 17–20 inches. If your torso is 16–17 inches, try both. Use a friend or a soft tape measure to get an accurate torso length before buying.
- Shoulder and chest fit: The women's pack has narrower, more curved shoulder straps and a shorter sternum strap position. The men's pack has wider straps and a lower sternum strap. If straps pinch your neck or slide off your shoulders, the women's version may fit better regardless of gender.
- Load weight: For day loads under 15 lb, the lighter women's pack saves a few ounces. For loads above 20 lb, the men's wider frame may feel more balanced. Neither pack is designed for heavy multi-day loads. If you routinely carry climbing gear or camera kits, lean toward the men's version for stability.
